Jesper Stromblad Leaves In Flames

The guitarist has finally decided to leave the influential Swedish metallers.

In Flames have confirmed that Jesper Stromblad has permanently left In Flames after nearly two decade with the revolutionary Swedish metallers. For the better part of the past year, the band have been playing live shows without Stromblad while he battled his alcoholism.

In a statement on the band’s MySpace, Stromblad said: ““I have decided it is best for me to leave In Flames and to quit the band permanently.

“The last 17 years have been a blast, and I am proud to have been part of this great journey, with the most talented and amazing people anyone can wish to have the privilege to work with.

“I’m also the luckiest guy in the world, to have the BEST fans in the world, who have been supporting me during my difficult times. It means the world to me, and I’m determined to fight and defeat my demons once and for all…. and by the help from you guys, I’m on my way.

“I’m far from done with music, metal, or whatever my direction is taking me, so be sure to hear from me in the future.

“May the Force be with you!” – Jesper Strömblad

This was promptly followed by a statement from the rest of the band saying: “We are losing a great guitar player and musician, but in order to keep a very dear friend this is probably for the best. If this feels right for Jesper we are behind him 100% on his decision.

“It is way too early to speculate about the future and possible replacements and things like that. However, we can assure you that In Flames will continue as a band, release albums and tour the world.

“The door to In Flames is always open to Jesper. We are, and will always be behind Jesper 100% on his way to recovery.” – Anders, Peter, Daniel & Björn

Hayley Williams Profiles

Hayley Williams is the vocalist of the Tennessee rock band Paramore. The band released their debut album, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005.

Hayley was born on December 27, 1988. She moved from Meridian, Mississippi, her hometown, to Franklin, Tennessee at the age of 14. Although she had always tried to improve her voice and write small melodies and songs, when she met brothers Josh and Zac Farro, Hayley said, “It was all so new for me. It really challenged me to use my voice in different ways. It was also good for me as a writer because I realized that lyrics didn’t have to be simple pop stuff; they could be harder and deeper.”

Hayley teamed up with the Farro brothers, neighbor Jason Bynum, and friend Jeremy Davis to form Paramore. In December 2005 Bynum left Paramore, and was replaced by Hunter Lamb. After winning a school talent show and playing at local clubs, Paramore were talent spotted. Hayley has two sisters. Her parents are divorced. Her mother has re-married. She spends a lot of her free time writting love letters to pmorelostsongs.

After being adopted by rock label, Paramore began recording almost immediately. In Summer 2005, they released their first album ‘All We Know Is Falling’ when Hayley was only 17. In an interview, Hayley said, “It was great. We’ve learned a lot since then. I think we’d probably do a lot of things very differently now.

BMTH's biography

bring+me+the+horizon

Bring Me The Horizon is a five-piece band from Sheffield, England. Despite only forming in March 2004, the band has gathered a surprisingly large fan base both in the UK and the U.S. Their debut EP, This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For, came out in December 2004 and was the first release from the independent label Thirty Days Of Night Records. The band has since embarked on a number of UK tours supporting well-established bands such as Bleeding Through and Aiden, and also signed with Visible Noise Records in the autumn of 2005. The EP was re-released in January 2006 ,via Visible Noise, to a mainly positive critical response. In September 2006 the band won Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Magazine Awards. Their debut album, Count Your Blessings, was released on 30th October 2006 amid a large headlining UK tour. As a very open and aggressive person the lead vocalist Oliver Sykes greatly encourages “Wall of Death” (or Braveheart) moshing, and has also asked for a “Piggy-back Wall of Death” during concerts and gigs.

King Of Leon Celebrate Grammy Win at StarPacked AfterParties

When the pageantry of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards wrapped at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, the stars headed off into the night to party — or enjoy a nice quiet dinner, as Dave Grohl described his post-show plan. Radiohead took off for their Hollywood Hills house party, where members of Maroon 5 gathered, while Jason Mraz dropped off his mom (his Grammy date) and headed to the Sunset Marquis for what he described as a more mellow hang.

At the private Kings of Leon post-Grammy party at the exclusive Teddy’s in the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel, Kid Rock held court in a roped off area reserved for his crew, which included ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons. Before the end of the night, the bearded legend had made Kings bassist Jared Followill’s day: “Billy Gibbons gave me his slide!” he excitedly told us. When asked about the Kings’ Grammy win, Nathan sarcastically replied, “Finally, after nine long years!”

The Kings’ bash also drew out Kirsten Dunst, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Katy Perry arrived in a silver sparkly flapper dress at 12:45 a.m. with a massive posse and headed to the back to smoke cigarettes with Johansson, while Suge Knight chatted with Kid Rock and Slash made his way over to Timberlake. The party cleared out at 1:45 a.m., and rumor had it Prince was hosting his annual post-Grammy house party.

EMI threw a more private bash at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills for the company’s artists and executives. Coldplay, fresh off their three wins, were in attendance, though Chris Martin (sans wife Gwyneth Paltrow) didn’t stay long. Katy Perry made an appearance, as did Keith Urban with Nicole Kidman and presenter Kate Beckinsdale. And SonyBMG’s unofficial artist soiree was held at the bar in the Beverly Hills Hotel, where John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston, Clive Davis, Carrie Underwood, T-Pain, Adele, Anthony Hamilton and Sara Bareilles gathered to toast the label’s big Grammy victories.

David Ellefson Backs In Megadeth

David Ellefson has exclusively told Classic Rock about the motivations behind his return to Megadeth, after an eight-year absence.

“It literally happened over the weekend,” says the delighted bassist. “And I can hardly believe it myself. There was clearly gonna be a change in the line-up, because James Lomenzo was leaving. Dave (Mustaine) and I talked on the phone, and all the feuds, all the arguments we’ve been having over the years just melted away. It just goes to show what direct contact can achieve!”

According to Ellefson, it was drummer Shawn Drover who instigated the whole thing.

“If you ever need a guy in a band to watch your back, then this is the man. Obviously, I have no clue what happened within the band. But I got a text from Shawn and it just said: ‘If ever there was a time for you and Dave to talk, now is it.’ It’s one of those messages you act on immediately. Typically of Megadeth, things then happened big and fast.

“In all honesty, talking to Dave again was wonderful. It was the right thing at the right time, done in the right spirit.”

Ellefson rejoins the band in time for their March tour of America, where they will play the whole of the 1990 album Rust In Peace.

“I have one big advantage – I think I know those songs already! Seriously though, I was in New York with one of my other bands, Hail!, when I found out that Megadeth were doing this, and I did feel a little upset that I wasn’t at that point gonna be part of it. But, hey, now it’s all changed.

“So far, the reaction I’ve had from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive. I cannot wait to get back out there with Megadeth.”

Mustaine is reported as saying: “David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked… HARD!”

Angels & Airwaves 'Love' Album

Even as he prepares for blink-182's summer reunion tour, guitarist Tom DeLonge is deeply ensconced in the next project by his other band, Angels & Airwaves -- an album and film project called "Love" that should be out before the end of the year.

DeLonge tells Billboard.com that "Love" -- which will be released for free thanks to corporate underwriting -- is "the biggest release of my life, the pinnacle of my creativity" and likens it to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" in the scope of its ambition. "It's super conceptual and highbrow in many ways, very artistic, very Stanley Kubrick," he says. "But it's not a rock opera. It's a very modern version of what could happen when you blend the film industry and the music industry together in a very, very arty, kind of cool way with professionals involved all along the path."

DeLonge says the "Love" movie -- which began life as a documentary about Angels & Airwaves recording its 2006 debut album, "We Don't Need to Whisper," and expanded from there -- "blurs the line between full-fledged live action and documentary with these epic kind of...meditative sequences where the sound design and the music and the picture all bend together to create a sonic experience as much as a visual one." The script, meanwhile, "tells a story of human life and destiny but at the same time really makes usual moments of life extraordinary. It's a circular narrative in many ways, where it kind of sums up the human race in a time capsule."

The music of "Love," DeLonge says, will have a prog-rock kind of flavor. "It's like blending Radiohead and U2 together with these kind of Pink Floyd movements," he explains. "Things happen unpredictably and take you to these epic soundscapes. It's very much in the spirit of Angels & Airwaves, but it sounds way, way more thought-out and way more ambitious."

DeLonge says the group is still figuring out mechanisms for delivering the film and album and are also planning a tour to support the project. All of this, of course, is going on while he rehearses for the blink-182 tour, which begins July 23 in Las Vegas.

"It's gonna be a really busy time -- It's fucking crazy, actually. I don't know what I'm doing," DeLonge says with a laugh. "But I'm totally down and excited to figure out how to make it all happen, 'cause in my life both of these (bands) can be a very necessary thing."

BFMV's Biography

Bullet for My Valentine is a band from Bridgend, Wales in the United Kingdom, with members: guitarist/vocalist Matthew Tuck, guitarist Michael Paget, drummer Michael Thomas and bassist Nick Crandle, who was later replaced by Jason James.

The Beginning:
Formed in 1998. They initially struggled to find success, and tensions arose when other Welsh bands such as Lostprophets and Funeral For A Friend were getting noticed and becoming more popular. When it came to the band recording a demo, things didn’t go as well as planned and the original bass player, Nick Crandle, quit the band a week before they were due to record. The band couldn’t get it together to record a demo, and subsequently split up. But despite this, they did get back together and found a new bassist in the shape of Jason James (formerly of NuKe). They changed their name from “Jeff Killed John” first to “Opportunity in Chicago”, then to the now familar “Bullet for My Valentine”. The band later signed a deal with Sony Records via Visible Noise in October 2004.

Their Rise To Fame:
They released their first 5 track EP (Later titled “Hand of Blood”) on November 15, 2004, on UK label Visible Noise. The mini-album was later released in the US on Trustkill records including an extra track - “4 Words (To Choke Upon)” - as well as the 5 songs on the UK album. The band also released “4 Words (To Choke Upon)” on March 28, 2005. The Vinyl was limited to 1000 copies. The CD/Vinyl was deleted on day of release, so no new copies are available. Their debut album ‘The Poison’ was released October 3, 2005. The first single from “The Poison”, “Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow” was released on September 19, 2005.They have recently been on a tour of the United Kingdom supporting another Welsh alternative metal act, Funeral for a Friend. They recently won the Kerrang! award for ‘Best British Newcomer’, and decided to accept an offer from Kerrang! to headline their 25th anniversary tour of the UK. The song “4 Words (To Choke Upon)” is used in NHL 06 and Madden NFL 06 by EA Sports and “Hand of Blood” is used in Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout Revenge. Trustkill Records (the US label for the band) released The Poison in the United States on February 14, 2006.The band recently completed a headline run on the Kerrang XXV tour at which on the final night in Brixton Academy they filmed footage for their new DVD. Bullet played the main stage at the Download Festival in Donington Park (North West Leicestershire, UK) on the 11th of June 2006

Still Remains History

Still Remains was a metalcore band from Grand Rapids, Michigan , signed to Roadrunner Records, who formed out of previous Grand rapids based hardcore band Shades Of Amber, releasing their first EP in October 2003. Still Remains notably joined Welsh metal band Bullet For My Valentine, along with Hawthorne Heights and Aiden on the Kerrang XXV Tour as well as touring with Trivium, 3 Inches of Blood, and The Agony Scene in the UK for the 2005 Roadrage tour which saw the tour end at The Download Festival in Donnington.

Still Remains were known for their unique sound, by incorporating keyboards into American modern metal sounds, to create a distinct, euro-metal influence in their music. The sextet cite bands like In Flames and Children Of Bodom as their influences.

As well as their early EPs, Still Remains have three releases to their name. “If Love Was Born to Die” was released in 2004 on Benchmark Records. “Of Love and Lunacy” was released in May 2005 on Roadrunner Records and their last album “The Serpent”, Which was released July 31, 2007. The Serpent investigated many diverse lyrical themes and, despite being the less heavy of the albums, could arguably be considered the darker and more personal lyrically.

Still Remains broke up on March 25th, 2008 , telling their fans ‘It’s been an amazing run but we are done for personal reasons. No we don’t hate each other or want to punch each other in the face. It’s just time for us to move on to different things in our lives’, and thanking them for their continuing support.

Killswitch Engage's Biography

Killswitch Engage is a metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, United States. Their sound mixes crushing riffs, double bass drum patterns, furious screaming-growling vocals and a dash of melodic elements. Their music is heavily influenced by the hardcore music scene. A key feature of the band’s sound is the use of complex palm muting, single-note and power chord riffs featuring dual-guitar harmonies, often punctuated with pinch harmonic squeals.

Following the demise of his band Overcast in 1998, bassist Mike D’Antonio trawled the underground Massachusetts hardcore and heavy metal scene in search of a line-up for a new band. In 1999, D’Antonio met Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel, Aftershock’s guitarists. Dutkiewicz became the drummer, while Stroetzel remained on guitar. The trio searched for a vocalist and eventually hired Jesse Leach, formerly of Corrin and Nothing Stays Gold. The now four member band took the name of “Killswitch Engage”, a name proposed by D’Antonio after watching an episode of the FOX television program “The X-Files” entitled “Kill Switch” by writer William Gibson after meeting Seattle industrial band Kill Switch…Klick.

While on tour with In Flames, the record label Ferret took notice of Killswitch Engage’s aggressive live show. The band then signed with the record label and began recording their debut album.

This their debut Self-Titled album was sufficient to earn the band a record deal with Roadrunner Records. Soon after their signing to Roadrunner records, the band decided to become a five piece by bringing in former Aftershock drummer, Tom Gomes, whilst guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz formed the now guitar duo. In 2002 they released “Alive or Just Breathing”, a successful record which greatly increased the band’s exposure and placed them on the Billboard Magazine Heatseeker chart. The CMJ New Music Report described the record as ”more addictive than crack cocaine that’s been smothered in nicotine AND drenched with chocolate.”

Leach left the band in 2002 for personal resons and was replaced by Howard Jones of Blood Has Been Shed on vocals. Leach went on to form the band, Seamless. The new lineup played on the Road Rage tour in the UK and Netherlands in 2002 with 36 Crazyfists and Five Pointe 0, and continued touring throughout the rest of the year. In 2003 the band released the song “PlayWhen Darkness Falls” which appeared on the soundtrack to the 2003 horror film “Freddy Vs. Jason”. The same year they also played the Ozzfest, after which drummer Tom Gomes left the band to live in Los Angeles with his wife and pursue their current band, Something Of A Silhouette. He was replaced by Jones’ fellow Blood Has Been Shed band member, Justin Foley, who also played in the jazzmetal band Red Tide. Justin’ first tour with the band was the MTV2 Headbangers Ball tours.

The band’s third album, and the first to feature Jones on vocals, was “The End of Heartache” which was released on May 11 2004. The album ultimately went on to sell more than a quarter of a million copies in the U.S. It also debuted on the top 40 of the Australian album charts on May 17, 2004 following a successful tour of that country with Anthrax.

In the later half of 2004, the band supported Slayer on their US Jagermusic dates, and headlined shows with From Autumn to Ashes, 18 Visions and 36 Crazyfists. In addition, the track “PlayThe End of Heartache” became the main single for the movie “Resident Evil: Apocalypse”, and in December 2004 the song was nominated in the ‘Best Metal Performance’ category for the 47th annual Grammy Awards.

In late 2004, “The End of Heartache” was re-released as a special edition album, with a second disc featuring live performances of “PlayFixation on the Darkness”, “PlayLife to Lifeless” and “PlayMy Last Serenade” accompanied with two bonus tracks, the rerecorded “Irreversal”, featuring former vocalist Jesse Leach on chorus vocals, and “My Life For Yours[track]”, the Japanese bonus track for the original release.

During the summer of 2005, Killswitch Engage returned for another spot on the Ozzfest tour. On November 1, 2005, “Alive or Just Breathing” was re-released as part of Roadrunner Records’ 25th anniversary. It was re-released with a second disc that contains “[track artist=Killswitch Engage]In The Unblind”, “When the Balance Is Broken”, “Numbered Days (Demo Version)”, “Transfiguration (Demo Version of ‘PlayFixation on the Darkness’)”, “Just Barely Breathing (Demo Version)”, “Fixation On The Darkness (With Howard Jones On Vocals)”, and “Aojb Studio Out Takes”, as well as the music videos for “PlayMy Last Serenade”, “PlayFixation on the Darkness”, and “PlayLife to Lifeless”.

On November 22, 2005, KsE released a live DVD titled “(Set This) World Ablaze” which had a live concert the band taped during their stop at the Palladium in Worcester, MA on July 25 2005. In addition to the live performance, the DVD also features an hourlong documentary about the band and all of their music videos. As I Lay Dying and Once Beloved also performed at this sold out concert.

The band returned to Chicopee, Massachusetts on February 19, 2005, to play an unnanounced show in front of fans from the band’s beginning days. The show was an album release party for guitarist Joel’s brother’s band, Once Beloved. "As Daylight Dies” is their most addictive release to date. Kicked off by the cover of Dio’s “Holy Diver” the CD took off as a cult favorite. Other titles such as “My Curse” have been featured on video games such as “Burnout: Paradise City” and “Guitar Hero III” and features Howard Jones’ heart pounding verses and melodic chorus and one of the metal riffs to date. Other songs that shine are “This Is Absolution” and “For You”.

Eyes Set to Kill's second album, The World Outside Was Released

Eyes Set to Kill's second album, The World Outside, was released June 2, 2009. Alexia stated that this new album is "a lot darker."[7] On April 23, they posted the song "Heights" on their Myspace page. Craig Mabbitt has been confirmed to be a guest vocalist on the song "Deadly Weapons". The album leaked on May 17. They are currently touring throughout the United States.[8]

The World Outside sold 2,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.[9] The World Outside peaked at #9 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart[10] and #26 on the Independent Albums chart[11]

On July 7, 2009, it was announced that lead singer Alexia will be recording an Acoustic EP after being inspired to do so following performing new song "Come Home." Recording is slated to begin on the 8th July. Also the Acoustic EP was stated to be Limited Edition and only available at their shows.

Eyes Set to Kill have taken the hardcore community by storm with an intense live show and a crushing EP. They unleash a whirlwind of melodic guitar riffs that violently flood into the ears of listeners, emotionally capturing screams, and hypnotizing melodic vocal hooks that seethe with emotion.

Originally conceived by as the two piece of consisting of Alexia Rodriguez (Lead Guitar, Vocals), and Anissa Rodriguez (Bass Guitar), this Phoenix , AZ post-hardcore outfit attempted to create a unique sound that would combine the soft, melodic feel of female vocals and gut-wrenching screaming, backed up by powerful instrumentals with a post-hardcore influence.

“Having a screamer and a melodic singer has just always been our vision. We wanted to try something different because we didn’t want to be the typical mall emo band,” said former singer Lindsey Vogt. “We didn’t try to make our songs a certain sound. We play what we feel.”

Searching the local area for talented and dedicated musicians to create this sound the group was frequently ignored and turned down by sexist musicians, despite their obvious talent and potential. The girls were classified, stereotyped, and rejected by the ignorant music scene before their demo was given a mere listen.

“People just assumed we were going to be just another chick band that has no musical talent,” Vogt said. “Since we were girls, no one took us seriously and assumed that we couldn’t play and write good songs.”
