Blink 182 Exploring New Sounds

blink+182+2010
Blink 182 haven’t completed their comeback album – but frontman Tom DeLonge says you can hear exactly how it will sound by listening to the three members’ side-projects.

What’s more, it hasn’t required a great deal of effort to put together, because the band are working better than they went their separate ways in 2004.

Speaking at Leeds on the anniversary of their friend DJ-AM's death, DeLonge tells Rock Radio: “The band seems to have doubled or tripled in size since the breakup. It’s explosive, it’s electric, we don’t need to do any work on it.

Discussing the follow-up to 2003’s self-titled release, Tom DeLonge explains: “The record will be very modern, relevant, fast and fun. It’ll be a mixture of drum’n’bass, indie rock and stadium rock. I can’t say we’ve done that before, but you can see the tip of the iceberg on the last record.

“Anyone who listens to my band Angels and Airwaves will know where I sit musically. If you imagine that, mixed in with what the other guys do in their spare time, you get it. It’s going to be a really great collaboration of the best of three different genres of music.”

While Blink 182 are enjoying playing in the UK and Europe, with DeLonge grateful for the crowds’ passion throughout their tour, he says the shows aren’t quite as spectacular as those they’ve played in the US.

He explains: “We brought the big stage set, but we had to cut it back a bit. There’s a very big, heavy and complex rigging system we used when Travis Barker is flying about on his drumset. We built a new one here and we’re pretty much able to do what we want, but it’s still not what we did in the States.”

DJ-AM, real name Adam Golstein, died of an accidental drug overdose on August 28 last year. He and frequent collaborator Barker were the sole survivors of the 2008 plane crash which directly led to Blink 182's reunion. Barker tweeted: "Today is a rough one. Rest in power and peace my brother – wish you were here. You left us far too soon. Playing hard as fuck for you tonight." Mark Hoppus tweeted: "Thinking of Adam today. RIP my friend."

Corey Taylor's Profile

corey+taylor
Born on December 8, 1973, Corey Taylor is the lead vocals for both Slipknot, a nu-metal/rock band (formed in 1999), and Stone Sour, a softer rock group (also formed in 1992). As many people love telling others, Corey was in Stone Sour before he was in Slipknot. Proof of this would be that Corey was the original vocals of the first stages of Stone Sour, which began back in 1992. But Corey did not join Slipknot until 1997, when the “old” Slipknot (which recorded one demo and one unreleased album ) departed ways with original vocals Anders Colsefni. Corey then joined Slipknot, and they later released their debut album, “Slipknot.” Anders and Corey actually performed live together, until Anders officially announced his departure from Slipknot, leaving Corey as the main vocals.

What inspired Corey Taylor to become a vocalist? Maybe his intrest in Rock ‘n’ Roll legend Elvis Presley. As Corey and his grandmother listened to Elvis, she also helped support his vocal career by purchasing equipment for Corey and helping him with his talent.

With the name Slipknot mentioned, one could only think about the masks that the band wears. Back when Slipknot originally started with Anders as vocals, the band wore masks over their faces (which, in fact, the members of the ‘MFKR’ Slipknot who are also part of the ‘new’ Slipknot still wear similar masks to those back in the ‘MFKR Era’).

Mike Shinoda Talks About Linkin Park New Album

Ben Jones of U.K.'s Absolute Radio recently conducted an interview with LINKIN PARK rapper, songwriter, keyboardist, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Mike Shinoda.

LINKIN PARK's video for the song "The Catalyst" premiered on MTV on August 26. The clip was directed by LINKIN PARK's Joe Hahn. "When coming up with the idea of the visual piece to accompany the song, I thought of the end," Hahn says. "What would it look like and feel like if someone pushed the button to decide our fate? What would it feel like if we accepted our fate in the moment of devastation? If we had a final moment to celebrate our final living moments, how would that feel? When J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, described the first test detonation of the atomic bomb, he famously recalled the Bhagavad Ghita, which says, 'If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one.'"

"The Catalyst", which went to radio on August 2, became the first song to debut at No. 1 in the 14-month history of the Billboard Rock Songs chart. The radio airplay survey measures the most–heard titles on alternative, mainstream rock and triple A radio. "The Catalyst" launched with 12.2 million audience impressions in its first week. The song is also featured in a trailer for EA Games' highly anticipated title Medal of Honor, which launched along with the single and quickly went to No. 1 on YouTube.

"A Thousand Suns" will be released September 14. The album is co-produced by Rick Rubin and LINKIN PARK vocalist Mike Shinoda.

German Pop SInger Guilty

nadja+benaissa
A German pop singer who confessed to knowingly exposing two men to the risk of HIV after finding out she had the virus herself was convicted by a court on Thursday of grievous bodily harm. Nadja Benaissa, 28, from German girl-band No Angels was given a two-year suspended sentence. She could have faced up to 10 years in jail. Prosecutors had sought a lenient sentence because Benaissa had confessed and expressed remorse.

"I made a huge mistake," Benaissa told the Darmstadt court in western Germany at the end of the trial on Wednesday, adding she had kept it all a secret because she was afraid of what would happen if the public learned she had been HIV-positive. "I was a coward," she said. "I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart. I wish I could turn back the clock and make it all not happen."

Benaissa was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm in one instance for infecting a 34-year-old talent agent, and attempted grievous bodily harm for another occasion when she had unprotected sex with another man between 2000 and 2004. Born in Frankfurt to a German mother and a Moroccan father, Benaissa and four others formed No Angels in 2000 after taking part in a television casting show.

The band became of the most successful girl-groups in Germany with hits such as "Daylight in Your Eyes" that were popular across Europe. Benaissa, who has also worked as an actress in Germany, was initially arrested on the charge in April last year and spent 10 days in detention. Prosecutors' publication of her medical condition sparked criticism that she had been unfairly treated.

The New Album Artwork of Cradle Of Filth Unveiled

cradle+of+filth+new+album
One of the most infamous and notorious names in metal, Cradle Of Filth continue to shock, excite, disgust and inspire in equal measures. On November 1, 2010, the latest chapter of the band's dark history is to be released through Peaceville Records on the band's own AbraCadaver imprint (November 9 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records). Titled "Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa", their ninth studio album is, in the word's of Cradle's infamous frontman Dani Filth, "without doubt the fastest and most brutal album we've created to date. As an acquaintance of the band so aptly noted, this is like 'Iron Maiden on crack in a graveyard of angels!' This album is Cradle at our most sinister and darkened fairytale," continues Dani. "A gothic horror themed slay-ride of fervour and perversion; yet amidst the orchestral melodrama and lush, cinematic production, there sits stalwart a ravening beast of furious riffing, flesh ripping vocals and monstrous, unstoppable percussion."

Cradle Of Filth - consisting of Dani Filth on vocals, Paul Allender and James McIlroy on guitar, David Pybus on bass, Martin Skaroupka on drums and Ashley Ellyllon on keyboards - recorded the follow-up to 2008's "Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder" at Monkey Puzzle studios near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. The bandmembers remain stalwarts to the satanic horror ethos by again composing a fully blown concept album, this time based on Adam's first wife, the lascivious Demoness Lilith; throwing Medieval nuns, Knights Templars, Greek mythology and lashings of sex, occult lore and violent bloodshed into the smelting pot, to create a darkly erotic nightmare set to their unique scope of supreme vampyric metal. And with an as-near-as-dammit release date of All Hallow's Eve 2010, Cradle Of Filth are snarling at the leash to get out to all of their fans across the world. "We can't wait to play this shit live," admits Dani.

For this release, the band wanted mastery of their own destiny, choosing to release the album on their very own AbraCadaver label in conjunction with Peaceville Records, home to such illicit luminaries as Darkthrone, Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Bloodbath and Gallhammer, among many others. Vocalist Dani Filth has described the move as being "a choice to move away from the artistic restrictions/mindless inhibitions imposed by dwelling on a major label" and cites the current financial clime as "the perfect opportunity to start doing things our own way again, with the added benefit of being a far bigger fish in a proverbial pool, surrounded by people who have been handpicked to get the job best done. And more importantly... who still are hungry for the taste of music."

Travis Barker Recruits Big Names For New Album

travis+barker+2010
Travis Barker has recruited some big name stars for his new solo project. But these big names don't rock. Gibson reports: Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker is preparing to release a new solo album. But fans expecting the pop punk of Barker's day-job band will be in for a surprise. Keeping with the tone of his more hip-hop oriented side projects, Transplants and Expensive Taste, Barker has recruited some of the biggest names in rap and hip-hop.

XXL magazine is reporting that collaborators will include Eminem (fresh off his own chart-topping album, Recovery), Lil Wayne and the ubiquitous Snoop Dogg. Also making guest appearances are Drake, T.I., The Game, Pharrell Williams, RZA, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross, The Cool Kids and Clipse.

Fans of Blink 182 needn't worry, though. The band has a host of European dates still on the slate, including Chiemsee Rocks in Germany, the Paris Rock En Seine Festival, and the Reading Festival in England.

Miley Cyrus, The One Reason For New American Hi-Fi

<br />American Hi-Fi Miley Cyrus
American Hi-Fi lead singer Stacey Jones says that pop star Miley Cyrus is actually the reason why it took so long for the band to make another album, and the reason why they made another album.

I have been music director and drummer for her for about the last four years,” explained Jones during a recent interview. “As director, I hired [American] Hi-Fi guitarist Jamie Arentzen to play as well.”

With two key members of American Hi-Fi wrapped up with Cyrus’ day to day on goings, it was extremely difficult for Jones and Arentzen to focus on anything American Hi-Fi. Being Music Director however, Jones said he does get some time to write music, which is actually how the idea for another Hi-Fi record was started.

“I was showing Jamie this song I had been working on, and he said ‘You know that sounds a lot like a Hi-Fi song,’ and I thought ‘You know, I think you are right.’ That was kind of the spark that led to the record.”

With everything going on with Jones everyday job, it would be easy to imagine that Jones leave American Hi-Fi behind someday, but he says there is something very special about the band making it a very necessary part of his life.

“It’s totally like a brotherhood at this point. I’ve known Brian [Nolan] since I was 18 and Drew [Parsons] shortly after, so we’ve known each other for a long time,” said Jones. “It’s kind of nice to be in the position that we are in now, we’re all doing other things, so Hi-Fi isn’t our main thing, and that really takes a lot of pressure off. It allows us to just get together and do what we want to do on our own terms, I feel very lucky to be in that position.”

American Hi-Fi’s new album Fight the Frequency is due out August 17th, and marks the first new album from the band in over five years.

Paramore On Tour With Canadian Indie Rockers

paramore on tour with canadian indie rockers
So yeah, we’re totally getting paid to tell you this, but Paramore is heading up this year’s Honda Civic Tour, an annual traveling musical circus that began in 2001 and has featured such bands as Blink-182, Incubus, Black Eyed Peas and Fall out Boy.

Don’t hold that against them, because this year’s acts include a personal endorsement of Antiquiet’s: Canadian indie rockers Tegan And Sara, twins with constantly complementary sounds who’ve carved their names in the cement of the indie scene by embracing that rare bird called “songwriting,” as opposed to the ever-trendy “noisemaking.”

This year’s lineup also includes Honda Civic Tour alumni New Found Glory and newcomers Kadawatha, which Honda describes as “passionate performances and heartfelt songwriting… most definitely something magical.” Who knows? They might be your cup of Sri-Lankan tea.

Some other celebrities that have previously appeared in Rolling Stone's nude covers include Lady Gaga, who appeared in nothing except for a machine gun bra, and both John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who turned to expose their rears to the camera in a 1968 issue.

Additional stars that have bared almost everything on the cover have been Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson and even rock band Blind Melon.

Skin is definitely in for the cast of True Blood.

The hit HBO show, which has never shied away from showing its vampires -– and werewolves and humans — baring almost all, has taken its raciness to a new level.

Sex Pistols New Fragrance Details Revealed

The English punk rock band - fronted by Johnny Rotten - have teamed up with cosmetic firm Fragrance and Beauty Limited to create the Sex Pistols scent, which is described as resisting tradition, fighting conformity and disregarding aromatic conventions.

According to a statement the fragrance - which is available exclusively at The Fragrance Shop - leaves a "fresh, restless bite of lemon, sharpened and intensified by a defiant black pepper".

The release added: "Electrified by aldehydes, the fragrance exudes pure energy, pared down and pumped up by leather, shot through with heliotrope and brought back down to earth by a raunchy patchouli.

As well as a strong scent, the bottle also makes a bold impression, with its iconic graphic inspired by the front cover of the single 'God Save the Queen' released in 1977.

With their anarchy-inspired lifestyle and controversial attitude, the group paved the way for a new genre of music and revolutionised British culture in the 70s.

Arcade Fire Debuts Atop Euro Album Chart

Arcade Fire scores its first No. 1 on Billboard's European Albums chart with "The Suburbs" (Merge/Mercury/Universal), as "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) by Shakira featuring Freshlyground starts a third week atop European Hot 100 Singles.

Three years ago, Arcade Fire's "Neon Bible" debuted at No. 2 on the pan-European chart, falling away sharply to No. 13 the following week. The new set is the band's first U.K. No. 1 album, selling 61,000 units there in its first week compared to 65,000 for the previous release. "The Suburbs" also debuts at No. 1 in Portugal and Ireland, No. 2 in Spain and Denmark, No. 3 in France and Switzerland, No. 4 in Germany and No. 5 in Holland. It climbs 6-1 and 12-4 in the Belgian regions of Flanders and Wallony respectively.

Eminem's
"Recovery" (Interscope/Universal), No. 1 for the last three weeks on European Albums and five in total, slips a place despite spending a sixth consecutive week atop the Swiss chart and climbing 4-2 in Austria, 3-2 in Poland and 7-6 in Denmark. It's down 1-2 in the United Kingdom, 2-3 in Ireland, 3-4 in Holland and 4-5 in Flanders, but holds at No. 3 in Germany.

Lady Gaga's "The Fame" (Interscope/Universal is down 2-3 overall, despite moves of 5-3 in Spain, 6-5 in Austria and 10-9 in Portugal. Also down one place Europe-wide is David Guetta's "One Love" (Virgin/EMI), although it continues at No. 1 in Spain and Hungary and climbs 15-6 in Portugal, 11-7 in Flanders, 9-7 in France, 8-7 in Austria 11-9 in Switzerland

Plan B's "The Defamation of Strickland Banks" (679/Atlantic/Warner Music) climbs back 10-5 in its 17th week on European Albums, holding at No. 3 in the United Kingdom and now adding a No. 7 debut in Germany, where it was released July 30.

Unheilig's "Grosse Freiheit" (Universal) is down 5-6 overall, despite continuing at No. 1 in Germany, where it stays ahead of fellow rock favorite Blind Guardian's new entry in runner-up spot, "At The Edge of Time" (Nuclear Blast/Warner Music). That's good for a No. 7 debut on the composite chart, also helped by a No. 9 start in Austria.

Muse's "The Resistance" (Helium 3/Warner Music) is up 9-8, thanks chiefly to its consistent sales in France, where it's at No. 2 again. Sting's "Symphonicities" (Deutsche Grammophon/Universal) is down to No. 9 after two weeks at No. 6, continuing at No. 1 in Poland and arriving at No. 10 in Hungary, but falling 1-2 in Portugal.

Closing the pan-European top ten, Kylie Minogue's "Aphrodite" (Parlophone/EMI) falls 7-10, holding at No. 17 in Portugal but sliding 8-14 in the United Kingdom.

The Shakira single retains three European No. 1 berths, in France, Italy and Spain. It's down 1-2 in Denmark, but stays at No.2 in Germany, Switzerland and Wallony. "We Speak No Americano" (Sweat It Out/All Around the World/UMTV/Universal) by Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup holds at No. 2 on European Hot 100 Singles and Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" at No. 3

The New Album of Bring Me The Horizon Revealed

U.K. metallers Bring Me The Horizon have set "There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret" as the title of their third album, which will be released on the following dates:

Oct. 8 - Germany, Austria, Switzerland
Oct. 4 - Rest Of Europe
Oct. 5 - USA
Oct. 6 - Japan
Oct. 8 - Australia

From the progressive opening riff and digital manipulation of choristers in the epic "Crucify Me" to the violins of "Don't Go" to instrumental track "Memorial", it quickly becomes clear that this is an album like no other.

The band locked itself away in a lochside mansion deep in rural Scotland for the majority of the writing period, and, free from distractions, was able to push its writing further than ever. Yet the album still includes the trademark elements that have become staples of Bring Me The Horizon's sound since 2006 - precision guitar riffs, venomously dark lyrics, massive beatdowns and gang vocals destined to be chants at the band's incendiary live shows.

The team at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden was again at the helm of the recording, this time bringing in electronic and programming authority Kc Blitz to assist with the instrumental aspects of the album. The CD also includes appearances from various special guests, including Josh Franceschi of You Me At Six (on "Fuck") who stated, "I'm really excited to be part of this record as it's going to turn some heads, and that's what music is all about." Also featured on the album are Josh Scogin of The Chariot (on "The Fox And The Wolf"), Sonny Moore (a.k.a. Skrillex) with electronica contributions and Canadian electro-pop starlet Lights (on "Crucify Me" and "Don't Go").

"There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret" is, in many ways, a concept album. Frontman Oli Sykes vividly explores humanity's collective good nature and the celestial euphoria associated with love, lust, truth and desire; this is balanced by the darkness and evil that is buried deep inside all of us. Lyrically and musically, the album is the band's most honest work to date as Sykes lays bare his fears, weaknesses and anger, which is just one layer on this truly progressive and advanced third album.

"There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret" track listing:

01. Crucify Me
02. Anthem
03. It Never Ends
04. Fuck
05. Don't Go
06. Home Sweet Hole
07. Alligator Blood
08. Visions
09. Blacklist
10. Memorial
11. Blessed With A Curse
12. The Fox And The Wolf

Avenged Sevenfold Bassist Explain "Nightmare"

Avenged Sevenfold recently hit a milestone in their career, landing at #1 on the Billboard top 200 chart with the band's fifth studio-album "Nightmare." After the passing of drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan, Avenged Sevenfold tapped Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater fame to handle the drum recording duties on the album and fill in for touring duties.

Just prior to the recent release of the music video for the title track on the new album, Bassist Johnny Christ spoke with Metalunderground about the new album. Commenting on the death of The Rev and how it influenced the album, Johnny stated "...when he passed it kind of took the record to a darker place than it already was. It’s definitely a heavier album than the previous ones. We had already planned on that, but obviously all of us are trying to make this more of a tribute to Jimmy. There are a lot of people out there who have lost somebody and we want to let them know they aren’t alone." He also went on to discuss how Mike Portnoy approached the drumming on the album and the distinctive artwork on "Nightmare."

"Jimmy’s passing was a devastation to the rock world and even more so to us because we grew up together. His passing was more devastating to us as people than it was to us as a band. That guy was always there and the first one to get us together to hang out. Having him not here still doesn’t feel real," he said.

He told about his history in music, "I’ve always been into music as long as I can remember. My parents have told me stories about me dancing around and singing to any kind of music on the radio. I think I first realized that I wanted to pursue music as a career around the sixth grade."

About their new album, he told, "This was written 100% with Jimmy. We started about a year ago and took about nine months to write. We were about a week away before his death and when he passed it kind of took the record to a darker place than it already was. It’s definitely a heavier album than the previous ones. We had already planned on that, but obviously all of us are trying to make this more of a tribute to Jimmy. There are a lot of people out there who have lost somebody and we want to let them know they aren’t alone. We wanted to pay a tribute to his legacy."

"When we first lost him the band was in the background of our thoughts. As time went on we realized we needed to make this record. We went through some drummers but Mike Portnoy definitely had a similar style because Jimmy grew up admiring his work for years. Mike came back with a humble “Yes,” saying he’d do whatever we wanted him to do to make the record. We had some demo tracks that were already laid down and he listened to those and worked with those to get the idea of what we were looking for. We gave him a few different options and then went with the ones we liked best. When it was done Jimmy would have been proud."

All That Remains to release Their New Album in October

Massachusetts metallers All That Remains will release their fifth album, "For We Are Many", on October 12 via Prosthetic Records/Razor & Tie. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include include "For We Are Many", "Waiting", and the album's first single, "Hold On". The follow-up to 2008's "Overcome" was produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who previously helmed All That Remains' "The Fall of Ideals" (2006) and "This Darkened Heart" (2004) releases.

"Jason was great, but we didn't want to go to Florida again, and we worked with Adam on two of our other records, and it was really cool," All That Remains vocalist Phil Labonte told Revolver magazine. "Plus, we're all homebodies, and working with Adam allowed us to stay in New England."

According to Labonte, fans of "Overcome" won't be disappointed, but "For We Are Many" will also offer a few surprises. "There's a song with a talk box on it and a couple of cool riffs that remind me of Meshuggah," Labonte told Revolver. Also, there's more Pantera-ish, southern stuff than we've ever done.

"I love it when people hear something we've done and go, 'Wow, that's All That Remains?'"

While fans wait for the new album, they can find several of their favorite songs from All That Remains' latest album, "Overcome", on the Rock Band Network for the Xbox Marketplace. The new songs that are now available for download are "Days Without", "Undone" and "Forever In Your Hands".

All The Remains had its first Top 10 hit at rock radio with "Two Weeks", a song from "Overcome".

Dave Mustaine Explains Why He Punched Hetfield

MetalSucks sent over an excerpt from Dave Mustaine's new autobiography "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir". The excerpt is where Mustaine discussed the punch that led to Metallica firing him. The excerpt: The actual fight didn't happen right there. They call it a hang fire, like when there's an unexpected delay between the trigger of a gun being pulled and the actual discharge of the weapon. You know it's coming, and there's no stopping it. It's just a matter of time. James and I alternately cursed at each other and refused to speak, until eventually we were both in Ron's house, preparing to rehearse, and tensions boiled over. There was another round of accusations and insults, more cursing, more threats. "You keep talking like that, I'm going to punch you in the mouth," I said. "Fuck off!"

In the middle of this exchange, Ron walked out of the bathroom and into the living room. He and James went way back, and despite the fact that James often treated him like sh*t, Ron instinctively defended his friend. "You hit him, you'll have to hit me first."

"Shut up and sit the fuck down" I said. And then James jumped to Ron's defense. "You touch him, you're going to have to hit me first."

Jesus, I thought, what is this, some kind of fucking game show? I realized I would have to make a decision. "Okay, you win," I said, and with that I threw a right cross that landed flush against James's face, turning his mouth into a pile of bloody Chiclets.

MetalSucks is also giving one lucky NYC-area reader a chance to get five minutes alone with Dave Mustaine before his book signing this coming Tuesday, August 10 at Barnes and Noble Fifth Avenue in NYC! Five runners-up will also received autographed copies of the book.

Weezer's New Album is a Tribute to LOST’s Hurley

Weezer’s next CD, their eigth LP, is a tribute to the ABC television series LOST. The musical group has ramed their upcoming Album “Hurley” and the album cover is simply a close-up photo of actor Jorge Garcia who plays Hugo “Hurley” Reyes in the series.

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo told Spinner:
We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title, trying to find some kind of phrase that summed up the whole aesthetic behind the album: ‘Heavy Mental,’ ‘Smaller Than Life,’” Cuomo says. “I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn’t really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia — it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.”

But don’t get oo excited Lost fans, the music on the album is not inspired by the show. Cuomo admits that he only recently started watching the series, and has only made it through season two. Cuomo says he was “really nervous” hanging out with Hurley/Jorge recently, because he “didn’t want to hear something about how it all resolves, or overhear anyone else talking about it.” Still cool none the less.

Memories,” the first song from Weezer’s eighth studio album and their first since signing with Epitaph, is now available for streaming. You can listen it on Hypetrak.com.

“Memories” finds Rivers Cuomo up to his usual activities, waxing nostalgic about Weezer’s heyday, “playing hacky-sack back when Audioslave was the rage” and “watching all the freaky Dutch kids vomit then have sex.” Well, all right then.

Hurley drops Sept. 14 on Epitaph.

Children Of Bodom Profiles

Children of Bodom is a Finnish band from the city of Espoo, near Helsinki. The name of the band comes from one of the most famous Finnish murder cases of all time. (The murdering of three teenagers one night at Lake Bodom back in the 60’s.)

The bandmembers include Alexi Laiho (lead guitar and vocals), Janne Warman (keyboard), Roope Latvala (rhythm guitar), Jaska Raatikainen (drums) and Henkka T. Blacksmith (bass guitar).

Early Children of Bodom albums are inspired by classical music and death metal (Red Light in My Eyes pt. 1 starts with a line from J.S. Bach’s Invention No.13 in A minor and Red Light in My Eyes pt. 2 includes selections from Mozart’s 25th Symphony), and later albums are more inspired by a commercial thrash and hair metal, losing some of its earlier melodic style. A precise definition for their musical genre is discussed by fans and the specialized press alike, often discounting the influences of the band and the composition of songs. The lyrics of their songs are written in the English language and are often of a simplistic nature, dealing with the subjects of death and personal struggles. As the band grows in experience, so does their playing style. They seem to change one way or another with every album that gets released. Even the album cover arts seems to change as the band grows. They are now also hitting the mainstream part of metal, their name and style being more known now. COB continues to inspire many musicians alike and more join the COBHC everyday.

Another Black Season Profiles

Now, we want to share with you about Another Black Season profiles. The music draws from a lot of my influences, bands like Depeche Mode, U2, The Verve and artists like Bowie and Amy Lee. They are making an indie project.

Robert tell me about his project :
I studied classical piano, theory and voice in my college years and I also fronted several dismal bands in those early years. After almost giving up I got into producing and making dance music and was signed to Moonshine Music for dance tracks and remixing the most notable project was NTC with Gary Butcher and Julie Harrington who have both done great things with the Cafe Del Mar releases and other projects. Our work was very well received in the community with rave reviews in the trades. That led to producing for Universal Music group and I was also selected as AOL musician of the week by Carol Bayer Sager, David Foster and Baby Face's Tonos when they were in business.

After all that I started an indie record label and was one of the first indies accepted into the iTunes store based on my work and the few bands I had signed. I wanted to get back to my first love which is rock music and started a band called Port Authority which had two top 100 releases on iTunes in their respective categories. Never one to sit still I started Another Black Season which is my latest project http://www.myspace.com/anotherblackseason and http://www.facebook.com/pages/Another-Black-Season/117560038280932 click on the band tab for more info, videos and music.

Keep rockin' Robert, We Hope all the best for you.

Ludo is Preparing Their New Album

In recording Ludo’s upcoming sophomore album Prepare The Preparations, band member Tim Convy said the band felt much more relaxed in the studio this time around, leading to an album that’s much truer to Ludo’s sound.

The last record we felt a lot of pressure on because it was our first major label release,” Convy told Alternative Addiction in a recent interview. “As an indie band, each album we had made only cost us a few thousand dollars and we recorded them in a couple weeks. I think we were a little freaked out when we had the big budget and months to record an album.”

With a solid major label debut under their belt, the members of Ludo entered the studio last year with a sense of confidence, which Convy said helped keep the band focused.

The songs on this record have a lot more character to them, they sound a lot more like Ludo.”

The confidence shows in the band’s first single, Whipped Cream, a song that Convy says the band just kind of stumbled upon.

Whipped Cream is just about kind of mocking those douche bags that you see at bars – a regular Ludo theme,” joked Convy about the topic of the song. “It was a song that we wrote just kind of messing around, and people seemed to like it when we showed it to them, and wanted us to pursue it, so we did, and now it’s the single.”
