Cool Tips to Play Acoustic Guitar

These mini guitar lessons have been put together for the beginner acoustic guitar student who feels a need to play rock music but is a bit short on direction.

Lesson One - What kind of guitar are you going to buy?
If you have a rough idea of what kind of music you want to play, the next step is to find yourself a guitar. Let's start with the basics - nylon string or steel string. A nylon string guitar was made to play classical and folk music. Acoustic guitars make their music by sending the vibration of the strings to the soundboard. The vibrations are then amplified in the body of the guitar. Nylon string guitars make a mellow tone; steel string guitars make a brighter, more metallic sound. One of the main things that will influence you in deciding what kind of sound you want is the guitar your favorite performer plays.

If you are just starting out you will not need a top of the range guitar but it is best to get the nicest one in your price range. A cheap, poorly made guitar will be an uphill battle to play. A good instrument will make your practice sessions something to look forward to.

Try different guitars. See how the neck feels. Check out if one neck feels more comfortable to play than others. Another consideration is the distance of the strings from the fret board which is called the "action". Low action is easier to play but if you are planning on strumming enthusiastically or picking loudly the guitar may have a tendency to buzz.

Lesson Two - Go ahead and learn.
The very first step toward learning to play acoustic guitar is to develop confidence and to overcome your natural reluctance to try new things. Lack of money, lack of time, or lack of a good teacher are three big obstacles to your guitar learning progress. The other three big obstacles are all you. You may be your own worst enemy. How do you react to a challenge? Challenges are your friends. If you find yourself getting frustrated, and not wanting to continue your practice, it might be time to downsize your goal, at least for a while. If you have two chords that you have trouble with, work on the first one alone for a while. Once you have improved a little, go to the next one.

Lesson Three - Daily Practice
As far as your daily practice goes look at starting with half an hour a day. If you can do more, great, you'll become a guitarist faster. The way you carry out your practice is crucial. Putting in the time isn't the only requirement. If you rush or try to fit too much in, then you're working against yourself. Err on the side of too little material at first. If you really are accomplishing what you set out to do in less than thirty minutes, then add a little more.

Lesson Four - Tuning Your Guitar
You can find online guitar tuners to help you get your acoustic guitar in tune. Take a day or two of your practice time to get the knack of tuning. When you start to develop an ear for tuning, try tuning the guitar without the tuner.

Lesson Five - Holding Your Acoustic Guitar
Long hours of practice can take their toll. Learning how to sit and play your acoustic guitar is an art in itself. There are places on the internet that have illustrations showing you how to sit when you're playing, but it would be good to find somebody with a little experience to show you. But don't just go with the way one person plays. If he's self-taught, then you don't want to pick up his bad habits!

All About Electric Guitar

Guitars, or similar instruments, have been around for thousands of years. The Electric guitar was first manufactured in the 1930s by Rickenbacker. Original Electric guitars used tungsten pickups. Pickups basically convert the vibration of the strings into electrical current, which is then fed into the amplifier to produce the sound.

The very earliest Electric guitars featured smaller soundholes in the body. These guitars are known as semi-hollow body Electric guitars and still are somewhat popular today, mainly due to the fact that they are flexible guitars.

However, with the use of pickups, it was possible to create guitars without soundholes (like the Acoustic and Classical guitars have) that still had the ability to be heard, if plugged into amplifiers. These guitars are called solid body Electric guitars.

The Electric guitar’s popularity began to increase during the Big Band era of the ‘30s and 40s. Due to the loudness of the brass sections in jazz orchestras, it was necessary to have guitars that could be heard above the sections. Electric guitars, with the ability to be plugged into amplifiers, filled this void.

The Electric guitar that is most prevalent today is the solid body Electric guitar. The solid body guitar was created by musician and inventor Les Paul in 1941. It is a guitar made of solid wood with no soundholes. The original solid body guitar created by Paul was very plain—it was a simple rectangular block of wood connected to a neck with six steel strings. Les Paul’s original solid body guitar shape has, of course, changed from the original rectangular shape to the more rounded shape Les Paul guitars have today.

During the 1950s, Gibson introduced Les Paul’s invention to the world. The Gibson Les Paul, as it was and still is called, quickly became a very popular Electric guitar. It has remained the most popular guitar for 50 years.

Around the same period of time, another inventor named Leo Fender came up with a solid body Electric guitar of his own. In the late 1940s, Fender introduced the Fender Broadcaster Electric guitar. The Broadcaster, which was renamed the Stratocaster, was officially introduced to the public in 1954. The Strat, as it is now known, was a very different guitar in comparison to the Les Paul. It had a different shape, different hardware and was significantly lighter. Fender’s Stratocaster Electric guitar is the second most popular guitar in the world, second to only the Les Paul. Over the years, other companies, such as Ibanez, Jackson, Paul Reed Smith, ESP and Yamaha have all produced solid body Electric guitars of their own. However, most Electric guitars still feature the familiar shape of a Les Paul or Strat guitar. ROCK MUSIC FANS.

Why the Beatles iTunes Debut Really Stacks Up

Music fans welcomed The Beatles to iTunes with open arms, as the Fab Four sold 2 million individual songs and more than 450,000 albums worldwide in the week since their catalog was made available on Tuesday, November 16. In the U.S., the best-selling album was Abbey Road (which landed at #6 on the overall album chart) and the best-selling song was "Let It Be," though it failed to crack to Top 10 on the overall songs chart. "Let It Be" came in at #26, followed by "Here Comes The Sun" at #29. "In My Life," "Hey Jude," "Come Together" and "Yesterday" all made the top 50 digital singles chart as well.

Abbey Road was also the #8 album on the digital album sales chart. The Beatles Box Set was the next-highest-charting collection after Abbey Road, landing at #10 on the iTunes albums chart for the week and selling 13,000 units. In the U.S. alone, Beatles album sales totaled 119,000 units, while individual track sales reached 1.4 million, according to Billboard.com. As reported last week, the initial announcement of the Fab Four hitting iTunes brought in a stampede of sales. In the first 24 hours, 17 Beatles songs landed in the iTunes Top 100, and eight titles crashed the Top 20 on the albums chart. Overall, 59 Beatles singles charted in the first 24 hours.

While there has been plenty of advertising to promote The Beatles' arrival to iTunes, reports say the media campaign will kick into high gear on Black Friday, with expanded TV advertising and full-page ads in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

Relentless Reckless Forever - The New Album of Children of Bodom

CHILDREN OF BODOM, the hard partying Finnish heavy metal band that features frontman and modern-day guitar hero Alexi Laiho, will release its new album, "Relentless Reckless Forever", on March 8, 2011 via Universal Music. Recorded in Finland's Petrax Studios with famed rock producer Matt Hyde (SLAYER, MONSTER MAGNET), the CD is the seventh studio album of COB's illustrious career and the first new record from the band since 2008's "Blooddrunk", which debuted at #22 on The Billboard 200 chart and scored the quintet its third consecutive No. 1 debut in Finland.

"We worked super-hard on this album, at least for me it was pretty much no sleep or rest for six weeks," stated Laiho. "But we were determined to make the best COB album ever, so we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, having our producer Matt Hyde kicking our asses 24/7 definitely made the results even better, so obviously we're more than anxious to get this album out there"

"Relentless Reckless Forever" summons and synthesizes everything CHILDREN OF BODOM has earned and worked towards over the course of its successful, storied career. The band's high-energy hooks and electric energy forge stadium-sized heavy metal anthems that seethe with both marvelous musicianship and a phenomenal pop prowess. COB's unique union of haunting melodies, rhythmic sensibility, guitar-and-keyboard interplay and king-size solos is supercharged to the maximum on "Relentless Reckless Forever", and the resulting record is poised to push the band — already on the brink of breakout success in the U.S. — to an altogether new pinnacle.

On October 6, CHILDREN OF BODOM filmed a high-energy music video for the brand new song "Was It Worth It?" on location at central Pennsylvania's residential action sports compound Camp Woodward with director Dale Resteghini of Raging Nation Films (MUDVAYNE, HATEBREED, ANTHRAX, SHADOWS FALL). In the video, the band joined forces with two-time X Games gold medalist and two-time Thrasher magazine "Skater of the Year" Chris Cole as well as noted pro skaters Jamie Thomas and Tom Asta (the current #1 amateur skateboarder in the world). The clip was shot guerrilla style, sans treatment; honing in directly on CHILDREN OF BODOM's high-spirited fire and the skater's eye-opening execution.

"The single 'Was It Worth It?' is a total party song, said Laiho. "It's not your typical BODOM sound, but it's one of my favorites and heavy as hell."

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Alexi Laiho said that he was happy with the decision to work with Hyde. "Our management was pushing the idea," Laiho said, "so eventually it was, 'All right, fuck it. Just to shut them up, let's do it.' We liked the way [Hyde] talked about music and the way he was already so fucking committed. He wanted to do the best fucking CHILDREN OF BODOM album ever and was pretty serious and convincing about that. After five minutes of talking to the dude, we knew he was the guy."

Regarding the musical direction of the new CHILDREN OF BODOM material, Laiho told Revolver, "It's maybe a little more melodic than [2008's] 'Blooddrunk' was. It's maybe more guitar riff-oriented, really '80s guitar and stuff like that."

According to Laiho, the recording sessions for the new CHILDREN OF BODOM album produced nine originals and one cover song that he says is "gonna be fucking funny as shit. I don't think it's something anybody would necessarily want to cover — not a metal band, anyway."

COB is a heavy metal band from Espoo, Finland, formed in 1993. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Alexi Laiho (vocals, lead guitar), Roope Latvala (rhythm guitar), Janne Wirman (keyboards), Henkka Seppälä (bass), and Jaska Raatikainen (drums). The band's third studio album, Follow the Reaper, was their first album to receive a Gold certification in Finland, and since then, all six of the band's studio albums have reached the same status. In Finland, Children of Bodom has released three consecutive albums that debuted at number one on Finnish album charts, and has also seen chart positions on the United States Billboard 200. Metalcore Music

According to wikipedia, metalcore is a fusion genre combining various elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. The name of it is a portmanteau of the names of the two genres. The term took on its current meaning in the mid-1990s, describing bands such as Earth Crisis, Deadguy and Integrity. The earliest of these groups, Integrity, began performing in 1988; some modern practitioners of the genre include Killswitch Engage, Underoath, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying and The Devil Wears Prada. Metalcore is distinguished from other punk metal fusions by its emphasis on breakdowns: slower, intense passages conducive to moshing. The genre has had a saturation of bands in the last five years. Sepultura has been credited to "lay the foundation" for the genre.

The origins of metalcore date back to the mid-1980s, where bands like Agnostic Front and Suicidal Tendencies were mixing thrash, punk, and hardcore together. The genre became huge in the late '90s, as a major wave of metalcore bands formed to tear up the metal landscape. Bands like Unearth, Killswitch Engage, and All That Remains have made names for themselves in the mainstream, headlining major festivals and achieving solid albums sales. Today, metalcore is still one of the most popular genres of metal, even with criticism from some in the underground metal community.

About.Com tell that Metalcore is structured linearly, with the songwriting consisting of aggressive verses and melodic choruses. Breakdowns are a vital part of the genre, usually used to invoke moshing at live shows. A good portion of the bands in the genre have recently added in solos and a greater emphasis on technical guitar playing, including a heavy use of palm muting. Double bass drumming is prevalent in the genre as well. The sound is polished and the lyrics range from personal to political issues. Most vocalists scream and growl, with some saving the clean vocals for selected points in the song (chorus, bridge). So, do you love metalcore music?

Blink-182 Ready New Album Next Year

It looks like 2011 might mark the year that Blink-182 will finally follow up their previous, self-titled, release, marking the first album for the pop-punk group in eight years. In a recent blog post, Blink singer Mark Hoppus wrote that the group has "been busy with new songs and ideas," adding that "Some tracks are very near complete. In rough terms, I'd say we're working with the better part of ten or so songs at this point."

The bassist/vocalist continued, "There's still a long way to go before the album is done . . . But already it seems like the songs are both taking a step even further than we took on the last album, while also going back to the sound of some of the earlier albums." Hoppus remarked that the group does have a scheduled date for the completion of the album and hopes to have it available by spring of 2011. "That being said, the only thing more important to us than getting the record out in that time is getting a great record out. If it isn't absolutely ready at that point, we'll keep working until it is," said Hoppus.

Paramore - Playing God Music Video

Paramore have released a new video for their latest single "Playing God,". Brand New Eyes," the band's third studio release, thematically exposed a heated conflict that developed between band members Josh Farro, Zac Farro, Taylor York, Jeremy Davis and front woman Hayley Williams. It was a brawl that centered on growing up and growing apart -- and threatened to destroy the band for good.

Paramore - Playing God Music Video

Paramore - Playing God lyrics

Can't make my own decisions
Or make any with precision
Well maybe you should tie me up
So I don't go where you don't want me

You say that I been changing
that I'm not just simply aging
Yeah how could that be logical?
Just keep on cramming ideas down my throat

You don't have to believe me
But the way I, way I see it
Next time you point a finger
I might have to bend it back
Or break it, break it off
Next time you point a finger
I'll point you to the mirror

If God's the game you're playing
Well we must get more acquainted
Because it has to be so lonely
To be the only one who's holy

It's just my humble opinion
But it's one that I believe in
You don't deserve a point of view
If the only thing you see is you

You don't have to believe me
But the way I, way I see it
Next time you point a finger
I might have to bend it back
Or break it, break it off
Next time you point a finger
I'll point you to the mirror

This is the last second chance
I'll point you to the mirror
I'm half as good as it gets
I'll point you to the mirror
I'm on both sides of the fence
I'll point you to the mirror
Without a hint of regret
I'll hold you to it

I know you don't have to believe me
But the way I, way I see it
Next time you point a finger
I might have to bend it back
Or break it, break it off
Next time you point a finger
I'll point you to the mirror

I know you don't have to believe me
But the way I, way I see it
Next time you point a finger
I might have to bend it back
Or break it, break it off
Next time you point a finger
I'll point you to the mirror

Paramore - Playing God video exposes past conflict
"Playing God" plays off the same momentum that the video for "Ignorance" did, as Williams is seen poisoning, detaining and interrogating her male bandmates with a magnifying glass in a dark basement (one that bears striking similarity to Williams' actual home, as seen in an episode of MTV's "Cribs").

The video goes as far to tug at the band's subdued Christian roots, with screen shots of a cross that hangs from Williams' retro car.

"It has to be so lonely / To be the only one that's holy," Williams sings. Ouch.

While Playing God Music Video is an accurate representation of the ill-harbored feelings that the band once shared, there is no doubt that Paramore has since recovered. By the end of the video, Hayley Williams has untied the guys just enough so they can still rock out together, suggesting that while she may not be forgetting the past, she's definitely forgiving. Escape The Fate's Max Green Enters Rehab

Nevada-based post-hardcore band Escape The Fate has pulled out of the remaining dates on its European tour with Bullet For My Valentine because bassist Max Green has entered an undisclosed rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.

"Max needs his friends and family by his side, so we're not gonna leave him," says lead singer Craig Mabbitt. "Max is one of my best friends and has never done this band wrong in any way shape or form.

"It's very honorable of him to admit he has a problem and wants to seek help for the longevity of his life and this band. I'm so sorry to the fans, but so proud of Max. He needs our love and support through this rough time in his life, so let's give it to him. Our soldiers never let us down and we will be back to play Europe and the two London dates very soon. We love you guys."

Escape The Fate will headline a string of European dates in early 2011. Tickets for the two London headline shows that were scheduled for December 6 and December 7 at the Islington Academy will be honored when these shows are rescheduled early next year. Escape The Fate's self-titled album sold 18,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 25 on The Billboard 200 chart. In the horror movie-influenced clip, Escape The Fate is being attacked by a small village of people, but things aren't as they seem. Bad news for rock music fans.

Ignorance Saved Paramore As A Band

Paramore’s Hayley Williams has finally spoken about the potential break-up which the band suffered in 2009. The period when ‘Brand New Eyes’ was being conceived and recorded was a difficult one for the band, who had already made several statements about their fatigue from touring two albums without a real break. To make matters worse, William’s long-term relationship with guitarist Josh Farro had also recently broken down. In an interview with The Guardian, Williams described the intense pressures of that vital recording period: "The entire record concerns not just my dating relationship with Josh, but the relationships between all of us. It's about the ways the other guys reacted to me and Josh, and to me. I definitely felt very secluded”

"We'd get into arguments," she said, "and he'd be like, 'Why can't you write in front of me? It shouldn't be that big of a deal, you know me. Before, he felt a part of the lyrics, when we were hitting everyone else head on. Now, we were colliding. I was the one with the real weapon, I guess - but he had the guitar, right? When he writes an angsty riff, like 'Ignorance', well, I definitely felt the emotion from that."

In the extended interview, Hayley Williams also said that the conception of ‘Ignorance’ was the turning point which stopped the band from breaking up: "I tried to mumble [my lyrics] all the way through, but Taylor was right next to the speaker and heard every word. He gave me this fierce look – I thought he was going to kill me – and said, 'So do you want to tell me about those lyrics?'

"I ran into the bathroom, I was so nervous. But we talked for two hours and reconciled a lot of tough, heavy things. That song saved our band."

Paramore are currently midway through their UK tour. The band are set to play the following dates:
November
16th LG Arena, Birmingham
18th Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle
20th AECC, Aberdeen
Rock music fans always love you paramore.

Scarlett Johansson Hosts 'Saturday Night Live' Again

This weekend SNL returned, as did Scarlett Johansson! Saturday Night Live was overall entertaining and a big part of that was due to the actress’s contribution. She impersonated some funny people, and gave me a laugh. The gorgeous girl in that photo rocked her new hairdo out all curly and donned a simple black suit on Saturday. She gave an interesting monologue that ended with singing a trio! Then came the skits! She played an exaggerated Patti Stanger for SNL’s version of “Millionaire Makeover.” She was entertaining, as was the nerdy lawyer she was making over. Scarlett Johansson’s Saturday Night Live appearance also had her being a part of “Maternity Television.” This was a spinoff of MTV, who has shows such as “America’s Next Pregnant Dance Crew” and “I’m Snooki and Pregnant.”

Other than entertaining us on the skit show, the actress is very busy with many other projects including a science fiction film and “The Avengers,” which is about to start filming. Her career is all we really get to hear about, as she tries to keep her personal life under wraps. She is married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and they apparently just bought a gorgeous home in LA.

So what else will we see from the “Iron Man” actress? This was her third time hosting this show. She said she wasn’t promoting anything and basically nothing juicy came out of her appearance. Overall it was entertaining though and I enjoyed the Scarlett Johansson Saturday Night Live episode.

What about you? Did you catch the latest episode?

In a related news, Scarlett Johansson who is married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is also intrigued with her regular visits in her husband’s upcoming film, The Green Lantern. According to the National Enquirer, Scarlett Johansson does not seem to like the idea that husband Reynolds is not with her and so, according to the said magazine has devised a way to visit Reynolds regularly and leave a smiling Reynolds on the set.

The Main Difference Between the Classical and Acoustic guitars

The Acoustic guitar is essentially a descendent of the Classical guitar, which, in its current form, has been around for over 100 years. The main difference between the Classical and Acoustic guitars are that one is strung with nylon strings, while the other is strung with steel strings. Since the Acoustic guitar is strung with steel strings, it has a louder, brighter sound which is appealing to folk and blues players.

Another difference between the Acoustic and Classical guitars is that the Acoustic guitar has a bigger body size, stronger structure, and a narrower neck than does the Classical guitar. The structure of the Acoustic guitar is stronger so that it can withstand the immense tension placed on it by the heavier steel strings.

Acoustic-Electric guitars haven’t been in existence for nearly the amount of time that their Acoustic counterparts have. These guitars, which have the ability to be both plugged into an amp and played unplugged, have been around for roughly 70 years.

The bodies of cheap Acoustic guitars are typically made from laminated tonewood. More expensive Acoustics are made from higher cuts of solid spruce top wood On an Acoustic guitar, the material which the body is made from really matters, so those looking for a rich sound will want to choose a guitar with a body made from nicer wood such as spruce top wood.

The neck of the Acoustic guitar is usually made from maple, mahogany, or rosewood. However, some guitar necks are comprised of different woods. Yet again, the quality of wood does matter. Generally speaking, Acoustic guitars with necks made of a high quality maple or mahogany and bodies made with solid spruce top are quality guitars with great tone. These guitars usually cost $250 on up.

The vibration of the strings is amplified by the soundhole of the guitar. This is where all sound that you hear comes from. If you look inside the soundhole of the Acoustic guitar, you’ll see the construction of the body. There are braces and linings, all essential to keeping the guitar intact and playable. X-bracing, a strong, durable bracing, is typically used on Acoustic guitars because it is heavy and strong enough to withstand the pressure of steel strings.

On the body of the guitar, you’ll find the bridge. This is where one end of the strings goes. The strings are inserted into the little holes and the bridge pegs hold them there.

On the neck of the Acoustic guitar is the fretboard. Most fretboards on the Acoustic guitar are made of rosewood or ebony. More expensive Acoustic guitars have fretboards made of higher quality woods.

The headstock of the Acoustic guitar features six tuning pegs (three on each side of the headstock) and six tuners (three on each side of the headstock). Good Acoustic guitars will have die-cast Grover tuners which usually stay in tune longer than other brands of tuners.

Like their Electric counterparts, Acoustic guitars are tuned in the standard E A D G B E tuning. Most Acoustic guitars have six strings, while some have twelve. The Acoustic guitar still remains a very popular instrument. It is used in virtually every style of music—rock, pop, country, blues, you name it. Acoustic guitars are wonderful instruments for both beginners and professionals.

Bon Jovi's Profile

Bon Jovi lands another pan-European No. 1, as the band's new "Greatest Hits" compilation (Mercury/Universal Island) makes a winning start on Billboard's European Albums chart. Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)" (Def Jam/Universal) begins a second week atop European Hot 100 Singles.

The veteran American rock act missed out on the European crown with its last studio release "The Circle," which debuted and peaked at No. 2 exactly a year ago. That interrupted a perfect run including 2007's "Lost Highway," which spent four weeks at No. 1, "Have A Nice Day," (two weeks in 2005), "Bounce" (one week in 2002) and "Crush," on top for no fewer than seven weeks in 2000.

Bon Jovi is an American hard rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists of lead singer and namesake 'Jon Bon Jovi' (John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres as well as current bassist Hugh McDonald. The band's line-up has remained mostly static during their history, the only exception being the departure of Alec John Such in 1994, who was unofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald. The band became known for writing several rock anthems, and achieved widespread recognition with their third album Slippery When Wet, released in 1986.

After touring and recording non-stop during the late 1980s, the band went on hiatus following the New Jersey Tour in 1990, during which time Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora both released successful solo albums. In 1992, the band returned with the album Keep the Faith. Their 2000 single "It's My Life", which followed a second hiatus, successfully introduced the band to a younger audience. Bon Jovi have been known to use different styles in their music, which has included country for their 2007 album Lost Highway. Their latest album, The Circle, was released on 10 November 2009 in the United States.

Throughout their career, Bon Jovi have released eleven studio albums, three compilation albums and one live album, and have sold 120 million records worldwide. They have performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans and were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. The band was also honored with the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004 and as songwriters and collaborators, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.

Black Cards Premieres First Video - Club Called Heaven

Pete Wentz is back! The Fall Out Boy bassist unveiled the video for "Club Called Heaven," the first track from his new band Black Cards.

Tour photographer and filmmaker Shane Valdes directs the vintage horror movie-inspired clip, in which Wentz plays a bank robber on the run. While driving through the California hills to make his escape, Wentz inadvertently runs Black Cards front woman Bebe Rexha's car off the road.

Her husband tries desperately to save her, but is only able to save Rexha's head from the car wreckage. Luckily, he's the Dr. Frankenstein type and brings the decapitated head back to his laboratory where he connects it to an elaborate set up of machines that magically keep Rexha alive and singing.

Like every good music video, Club Called Heaven music video comes with a moral -- we think. After poisoning a supermodel in an effort to replace Rexha's body, our Dr. Frankenstein hero is attacked by one of his other deformed experiments, who sets fire to the entire laboratory in the process. It's OK, though, because despite her stand-alone head going up in flames and her dead creepy scientist partner, Rexha keeps singing about how we're dancing in a club called heaven. This is just proof that nature shouldn't be tampered with, folks. Oh, and Wentz gets away from the cops, in case you were wondering.

Kid Rock Feels Bad For Jailed T.I.

T.I. may be optimistic about his second stint behind bars, but friend and collaborator Kid Rock doesn't agree with the rapper's recent legal sentence. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, the rocker expresses sympathy for T.I., who turned himself in to a low-security prison in Arkansas on Monday for probation violations.

"It's sad. He's such a nice guy. It's a tricky situation, but I feel bad for him," Kid Rock said. "I understand someone's gotta learn their lesson, and I know they gave him a chance, but there's a better way his time could be utilized to help other people, something to help the community."

The two recently collaborated on "Care," which will appear on Kid Rock's forthcoming LP. He went on to say that there are other things the legal system should be focusing on, adding, "Some of these jail things, I don't agree with them, especially when you got so much horrid sh-- going on in the world."

Rapper T.I., who was sent back to the same facility where he served nine months last year, was arrested with his wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, in Los Angeles. The two were charged with drug possession, a violation of Tip's probation.

Kid Rock recently had his own legal troubles when a man named Harlen Akins sued him for his involvement in a 2007 scuffle that took place at an Atlanta-area Waffle House. The singer appeared in court to testify on his own behalf that he did not attack Akins and that the fight hadn't even occurred until the man instigated Rock. Akins, who was seeking $6,000 in medical costs, was awarded $40,000 in compensatory damages. In an interview with MTV Kid Rock explained why he felt compelled to get personally involved in the case. "Do people really think I was down there because I was being sued for $6,000?" he asked. "They wanted $2.9 million in punitive damages. But that didn't get printed anywhere. I had no choice but to go down there and state our side of the story. At the end of the day, they wanted $2.9 million and they got $40,000. I consider that justice done."

Kings Of Leon on MTV Europe Music Awards

The Kings Of Leon rode Southern swagger (and some seriously tight trousers) to success in Europe long before fans in the States were singing along to anthems like "Use Somebody." So you'd think they'd be plenty confident heading in to Sunday night's (November 7) 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards, where they're performing and are up for two awards: Best Live Act and Best Song. But, you'd be wrong. See, in both categories, the Kings find themselves up against juggernauts like Lady Gaga, Muse, Linkin Park and, uh, Ozzy Osbourne, which means that, honestly, they're pretty much expecting to go home empty-handed.

See, it's true: All famous people do talk to each other. And if you're thinking that the Followills are just displaying the same modesty that fellow EMA nominees 30 Seconds To Mars demonstrated when MTV News asked them about their chances of taking home an award, well, you'd be right, to some degree. A moment later, Caleb Followill — showcasing the swagger that made KOL international sensations and which they showed off during a Saturday rehearsal of their hit "Radioactive" — looked at his brothers, cracked a wry smile and let his true feelings be known.

On the red carpet, mere minutes before the show kicked off, the Kings of Leon promised that their 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards performance would probably be the first time they played "Radioactive" on this scale. And in a way the song felt both epic and intimate, if that's what they meant.

The group hit the stage, filling the giant scale of the room with their rockness. They didn't miss a note as third big act of the night, following up Shakira's hip-shaking performance and 30 Seconds to Mars' collaboration with Kanye West at the preshow.

With nothing but a few spotlights on them, Caleb Followill and his band brought some good old American Southern hospitality to the show. The guys were up for two awards at the big show, including Best Live Act and Best Video, but they didn't show any nerves as they let their song speak for itself during their performance.

The song's general rocking capabilities made the performance epic, but at the same time, the sparse lighting gave it the intimacy of a club gig, despite the fact that they were playing the Caja Magica for an awards show. Perhaps there were no evident show-night jitters because the Kings of Leon didn't think they had any chance of winning. "I think our chances are slim to more than slim," KOL frontman Followill laughed. "And slim just left," drummer (and brother) Nathan added. "So we're not going to win at all."

Dave Grohl's Reunion

Dave Grohl admits teaming with former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and producer Butch Big again was a strange experience. Dave Grohl found working with his former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic "a little weird".

The Foo Fighters frontman is joined by the bassist on a track on his current group's new album and admits he found recording together again for the first time in over a decade bizarre, particularly as the studio session was overseen by Butch Vig, who produced Nirvana's defining 'Nevermind' LP.

Dave said: "To be in the same room as Krist and Butch for the first time in so long was a little weird. But it was cool that we survived. As he was leaving here I said in a cute voice, 'I love you, Krist', and he said in a similar voice, 'I love you, too!' "

It is not known is Krist played either bass or accordion on the track, which is expected to be included on Foo Fighters' forthcoming seventh album.

Whether Krist will be playing accordion or bass in the track is something that has not been made public. This track is going to be a track in the upcoming album of the Foo Fighters.

In the year 1994, the front man of Nirvana Kurt Cobain killed himself and the group was extremely popular during that time. While Dave’s present band is as successful as Nirvana, he still fears about the band’s survival. Dave Grohl said that he sees new bands come up and sells a lot of copies and he thinks to himself that these bands will destroy the Foo Fighters. Then he thinks that it was exactly what had happened to him when he was a kid.

Foo Fighters New Album
Dave Grohl talks summer fests...

Tickets for Foo Fighters' back-to-back July 2nd and 3rd shows at Milton Keynes Bowl go on sale today. The band may also headline 2011's T In The Park a few days later. Dave Grohl told NME that the band would be playing all of the "big ones", though he couldn't say which ones just yet.

Grohl said the Foo Fighters new album, out in the first half of 2011, is made for stadium shows. "I want to play the album at night live in front of 70,000 people," declared Grohl. "It's a festival album because it fucking rocks!"

Marilyn Manson Going Punk?

Marilyn Manson's forthcoming album is going to be a punk rock affair, according to his guitarist. Speaking to The Blairing Out with Eric Blair Show, Twiggy Ramirez (aka Jeordie White) said Manson's eight studio album is "kind of like a little more of a punk-rock Mechanical Animals," referring to the 1998 album.

Ramirez said that the album was "almost done" and would most likely be out in 2011. "It's fantastic," he said. "It's our best record yet, I think. I mean, everyone always says that, but I think this is our best work so far."

Marilyn Manson (born Brian Hugh Warner; January 5, 1969) is an American musician and artist known for his controversial stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band, Marilyn Manson. His stage name was formed from the names of actress Marilyn Monroe and convicted murder-planner Charles Manson. He has a long legacy of being depicted in the media as a bad influence on children. The seemingly outrageous styles for which he models and the controversy surrounding his lyrics have led to his very pronounced public appeal.

Cardiology - Good Charlotte's Fifth Album

Good Charlotte's fifth album was released on November 2, 2010. Describing the sound to MTV news, Joel Madden said it would sound a lot like Blink-182. Joel Madden went on to say in the same MTV interview that "There's nothing dance-y on the record, though, at all, which is different from our last one," further implying a movement away from the sound of Good Morning Revival. On December 3, 2008 Kerrang! magazine announced that Good Charlotte would be releasing their fifth studio album, Cardiology in 2009. The title of which, according to Joel, comes from the lyrical content of the album, which he explained is "all connected to the heart". Madden also added that they had already written 20 songs for the new album, and are said to be heading back to their pop-punk roots.

The band frequently tweeted during the recording process, giving updates to fans. In late July 2009, Joel Madden mentioned that they were close to track listing the album. On August 9, 2009, Benji Madden mentioned on his twitter that they had yet to record the songs but they were written. On the August 25, 2009 Benji announced on the official Good Charlotte website that the band were in the final stages of tracking and recording the album. At the time, the album was being produced by Howard Benson, who is known for such albums as My Chemical Romance's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, and The All-American Rejects' Move Along. However, the band didn't feel right about the sound of the album because Howard Benson focused on making it a commercial success. On January 24, 2010 Good Charlotte announced they had finished the album, but were going to completely scrap it and record with a different producer, Don Gilmore, who also produced their first and fourth records, the self-titled CD and Good Morning Revival.

Good Charlotte released their first single "Like It's Her Birthday" from the new album on August 24, 2010. The band posted the song online August 5, 2010, and wrote on their website that if the YouTube video of the song receives more than 100,000 views, they will post another song from the album. The video reached 100,000 views on August 15, 2010 and the band released "Counting the Days" as a video on their YouTube channel and announced that it will be the second single from the album. The music video for Like It's Her Birthday has camoes from The Maine's lead singer John O'Callaghan and guitarist Kennedy Brock and Boys Like Girls's lead singer Martin Johnson and guitarist Paul DiGiovanni.

Cardiology unfolds just as you’d expect it to, with a consistent batch of songs that border on blatantly formulaic, but provide enough catchy melodies to make you forget all of that as you sing along. Although the guitars are distorted and the percussion is driving, you’d be hard-pressed to call this a rock album, unless your entire music collection consists of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.

At times, Cardiology feels a bit forced (see “Introduction to Cardiology”) or overly gimmicky (“Counting The Days”), but there are some solid musical moments in between. Good Charlotte does attempt to expand its horizons on several tracks, but too often it backfires; “Like It’s Her Birthday” begins with a Franz Ferdinand-esque guitar line and Enrique Iglesias hooting before it returns to typical pop fare.

For a “rock” band, Good Charlotte doesn’t do quite enough rocking on Cardiology, and to compare this album’s “1979″ to the Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979″ shows just how wide music executives have stretched the rock genre to accommodate mainstream tastes and reach the teeny-bopper ears that dominate parents’ purses.

The final track on Cardiology is the titular track, and it’s another example of Good Charlotte trying too hard that comes off sounding awkward – is it a joke, or is the band trying to make a statement? Hard to say, but two things are certain – Good Charlotte to stick to its proven formula, and, joke or not, Good Charlotte is laughing all the way to the bank.

Metallica to perform at Call of Duty

Rockers Metallica will play the launch event in California for the new Activision video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops" before heading back out to finish their sold out tour of Australia.

The launch event is set to take place Thursday (11/4) at Santa Monica Airport's Hangar 8. In Flames New Album Updates

Swedish death metal outfit In Flames has posted a message online via their Twitter account regarding work on In Flames new studio album, which will be the first without founding guitarist, Jesper Strömblad. The message reads as follows:

“Pre-prod is almost finished, songs are almost done and we are almost ready to start the actual recording of our next album! We’ll be releasing exclusive clips filmed for our fan club Jesterhead.com starting sometime in the next week.”

Guitarist Jesper Strömblad quit IN FLAMES in February in order to continue receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction.

The band spent the last few months touring the world with Strömblad's temporary replacement, Niclas Engelin from the Swedish band ENGEL.

Engelin had helped IN FLAMES on a couple of occasions in the past and is no stranger to the band's songs or the touring life.

IN FLAMES's latest album, "A Sense of Purpose" (2008), shifted 20,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release. This was slightly less than the opening tally of "Come Clarity" (Ferret), which sold just under 24,000 copies in February 2006 to debut at position No. 58.
